The OTG Daily #42 Celebration

To celebrate: to perform a ritual, to observe an occasion, to mark something of importance.

From the Latin celebrare - to throng, frequent, observe.  A word dating back only to the 15th century. Perhaps an indication of the social and societal aspect of this word. The more human civilization progressed to be made of cities and towns there may have been more communal reasons for celebration.

We had a bit of celebrating in my studio today, marking its completion before I begin using it to make art. There was champagne and flowers and two kinds of chili with the wood fire ablaze in the corner. We invited a few old friends and some new from our our new town to mark this special occasion.

My sister had a pop-up exhibit of her prints.

I understand there were also 7 planets lined up in the night sky below the moon and Venus. A rare sight and another reason to celebrate. What are you celebrating today?
