The OGT Daily #14 Singing in Community

We haven't exactly been church shopping which sounds awful, but we have now visited the same church twice within the month.  During COVID and the eventual sale of our home of twenty years to move to another state our connection to church had been severed. My partner was not raised with religion while I consider myself culturally Catholic. When our kids were little we settled on a beautiful little white Episcopal church with a red door and a welcoming community that believed in community service and well - community.   While we have not been looking for it, too wrapped up in our big old house and its renovations, etc... we found this morning at the 10 am service that singing together in community, those old Episcopal hymns - Amazing Grace, Glorious Things of Thee are Spoken - he with his baritone and me with my reedy soprano surrounded by a group of strangers who just accepted us in song - was quite a comfort.

On this day I am grateful for community and song and the ability to find unity in such a simple pleasure.

What are you grateful for today?
