The OGT Daily #17 Balance

"Vrikshasana is the tree pose in yoga.  It reflects the harmony between heaven and earth and the interdependence between these two dimensions.  It invokes the inspiring qualities of trees: mercy, generosity, flexibility, tolerance, strength, endurance, balance, and grace" (Ghosh, 2010; Integral Yoga Magazine).

Almost every morning I do a tree pose, after a whole series of warm up stretches to wake up my body.
The tree pose comes last before I sit down to meditate and it indicates very clearly how well balanced I am or not. Some days I waver all the way to the wall looking for support. Others days I find that inner column of strength and stand upright almost as if I wasn't touching the ground at all.

Whichever it is, I'm grateful for this tool of balance even in the hardest moments it helps me to right my keel and master the waves. We may all need a lot of balance moving forward.

Exactly what are you grateful for today?
